The Plan (floorplan)

We are excited to unveil the before and after floor plans for our newest house!

As you can see from the before picture (the one on top), that this house had a lot of walls, lots of small rooms and was not the open floorplan that people look for in homes now. The after picture (on the bottom) enables a person to see from the front door through the dining room, into the kitchen that will feature a large L-shaped island and into the large family room. The master bedroom is where a great deal of change is happening. In the first picture, in the top right corner - there are two small rooms, 3 closets and a tiny bathroom, this is transforming into a large bedroom, one spacious closet, a bathroom more space and a dual vanity and and even a desk nook in the family room!

New Year - New House!

In late October I announced that we had a new house under contact, well some wonderful news - it's officially ours! This home is in the highly desirable Oak Forest subdivision of Houston located off of loop 610 and TC Jester. Oak Forest is a well established neighborhood built in the 1950s and 60s with average home sizes of 1,349 square feet, lot sizes of 7,428 square feet and approximately 3 bedrooms and 1.5 baths. Our home is larger than many of the houses in the area at 2,048 sq ft and a lot size of 7,560 sq ft. We are so excited about this one because it needs A LOT of work. The pictures below do not do the house justice – it is awkward, smelly and very outdated. Since closing on the 18th, a great deal of work has already been done! We worked out a fantastic floor plan and hired an architect to help us draw it out and finalize the details. Walls have already been removed and we are looking forward to opening up the entire house! From the front door you will see through the formal living room/entry, through the dining room and kitchen and through the spacious den and out into the backyard. The kitchen will feature a large L-shape island and a floor to ceiling wall of built-ins, two very small bedrooms have had all of their walls removed and will be made into a spacious master suite.
